Novasoy®

Novasoy, the source of soy isoflavones in Geneva's Dutch Chocolate Calcium & Soy product is a powdered extract from whole soybeans. Isoflavones have been shown to provide a variety of health benefits for women who are experiencing menopause. These benefits include support for heart health and bone health.

Isoflavones are a unique group of compounds found almost exclusively in soybeans. They have a chemical structure similar to the hormone estrogen, and share some (but not all) of the physiological properties of estrogen. For this reason, isoflavones are sometimes called phytoestrogens (plant estrogens). There are two primary isoflavones in soybeans: genistein and daidzein, and one minor one, glycitein. The isoflavone profile of Novasoy matches that which is naturally present in the soybean.*

Isoflavones initially attracted attention because in Asian soyfood-consuming countries (like Japan), rates of coronary heart disease are only a fraction of the rates found in Western, low soy-consuming countries like the United States.*
