About the LEVITY Study
The LEVITY study is ground-breaking research
just released December, 2001 in Women & Health, a peer-reviewed
academic journal. In the study, conducted under the auspices of
the University of Washington, Dr.
Marie-Annette Brown, Jo Robinson and their colleagues
tested a program of light, exercise and vitamins on 112 women
spanning the ages from 19-78. In just 8 weeks, tests showed that
the women had experienced a remarkable turn around. They felt
more energetic, better able to cope with stress, less anxious,
more joyful, less reliant on food for comfort, less angry, and
more confident in their own abilities.
Even more
remarkable, the women's depression scores were cut in half! And
on a test of general well-being, the women's average score moved
from the worst to the best possible category in just two months.
These are the kind of results one expects to see from state-of-the-art
antidepressants. Yet, as Dr. Brown explains, they can also come
from getting more sunlight, brisk exercise, and the right combination
of nutrients.

The University
of Washington research team interviewed all the women who participated
in the program at the study's conclusion. Their interviews revealed
that the LEVITY Program had greatly improved the women's lives.
Study
Program Participant: "Before the study, my mood was about
four or five, now it's eight or nine. It's really been quite a
change. I used to have a lot of sedentary habits. In the afternoon,
I'd often lie down on the couch. Now, I go for a walk, get some
light. Walking and light has made me more alert, more excited
about what's going on at work. My overall stress level is down,
definitely down. And my attitude! Now I know I can make a change.
I can do things! I don't have to just be in this rut where I eat
at McDonalds every day and watch TV at night. I learned that I
can make changes and I can make my life better!"
